The Lean Organization and its Corporate Culture:

What does it look and act like?  How do we create it?

Tom Robinson, Catalyst Consulting Team

April 29th, 2009

Glen Acres Golf Club

Come hear Tom Robinson talk about his experiences over the past 25 years in creating meaningful change in a wide range of organizations in the Pacific Northwest.  What changed?  What were the cultural hurdles?  How was it accomplished?  What were the results when viewed internally?  What did clients and others see from outside the organization?

Tom Robinson has 25 years of experience in analyzing processes, coaching and developing managers, facilitating high-performing teams, and teaching methods for improving quality and customer service.

In the past decade, much of Tom’s consulting has emphasized lean methodologies, rapid process improvement, and group facilitation. In particular, he has focused on mapping and improving processes in non-industrial settings such as medical centers and clinics, research laboratories, and tribal service organizations.

Tom has consulted to a wide range of organizations including Boeing, BP Exploration Alaska, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Getty Images, Harborview Medical Center, HIV Vaccine Trials Network, Lummi Indian Nation, Philips Oral Healthcare, Qualis Health, Puget Sound Neighborhood Health Centers, Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, Starbucks Coffee, Texas Tech Student Health Center, T-Mobile, University of Washington Department of Surgery, Virginia Mason Medical Center, and Watermark Credit Union. Tom has been invited to deliver workshops on lean strategies and methods to the American Health Quality Association, the American Society for Training and Development, Organization Development Network, and the Washington State Health Information Association.

Lean Construction Institute Cascadia Chapter

The Lean Construction Institute (LCI), a non-profit research organization, was founded in August 1997. LCI's purpose is to develop and disseminate new knowledge regarding the management of work in design, engineering and construction for capital facilities. To that end, the Cascadia chapter is a localized chapter serving the BC, WA, OR region.  LCI has developed the Lean Project Delivery System© (LPDS), and the Last Planner® System of production control. Lean Construction is a production management-based approach to project delivery - a new way to design and build capital facilities. Lean production management has caused a revolution in manufacturing design, supply and assembly. Applied to construction, Lean changes the way work is done throughout the delivery process. Lean Construction extends from the objectives of a lean production system - maximize value and minimize waste - to specific techniques and applies them in a new project delivery process extending from project definition through design, supply and assembly.
